DeltaTrolling the Delta has been very good. We've been using rebels, bombers and jigs..the stripers have been hitting them all. We've been fishing the bottom of the low tide to the top of the high tide. You'll have to troll till you find the schools. They're running from 18 to 33 inches respectively. Also, we've been bait fishing and it's been very good. We're using shad, sardines and anchovies. It's best on the outgoing tide but you can catch them on the incoming tide too. Pat Jones and Jeff Lozon from Redwood City, Steve Safholm and Robert Graham from Orangevale, Dan Cordes, Hallie Jellison and Eric from Sacramento, and today, Dan Billings from Sacramento...all caught limits. The water is very clear and fishing should be very good through New Years.
American River
The American will be opening for steelhead on 1/1/2000. Last years opener was good and I expect the same and better this year. We caught steelhead to 13 lbs. last year. The water is low and clear which is very good conditions for steelhead. Now is the time to book. Have a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
